I am an active reader and read almost anything from children’s books right through to non-fiction, but I can easily put a boring book down. Time is just too precious to waste. I have dreamt about my own blog for many years, but had no idea what I wanted to write about. I’m not even sure if I know yet. This domain was registered almost 10 years ago … and yes, I had to start writing sooner rather than later.

I started the blog with a buddy or three, but every one else got busy with their own things … or maybe they thought they were not going to get famous here! And now I write on my own again.

Maybe it is exactly how it was meant to be right from the start when I registered this domain … me, myself and I – writing on my own. I hope you will enjoy what I write about. Some of my articles will be in Afrikaans and most of my friends across the globe might not understand it, but that is why I write in English too … especially for you!

A bit more about myself … I have been working in financial departments since 1989 in various industries: marketing, magazines, publishers, motor industry, agricultural, clothing, engineering, security, training, insurance and even construction. I am proud of my varied experience in different industries. At some stage in total desperation ~ or was it madness? ~ to earn an income, I even transcribed court cases. This is a lonely job … you work in total silence as you mostly work at night when all is quiet in your house and all you hear is the voice in your ears. Very interesting, but very depressing.

In 2010 I started freelancing in the publishing industry and am proud to say I consider myself an expert on the quality control of eBooks and audio books. What an amazing world to get lost in.

I am also an active crafter and can do anything from decoupage, fabric painting, mosaic, needle work, crochet, jewelry making, and much more. It is very expensive to be a crafter … I just buy stuff because it is pretty and for just in case I want to use it in the future. I’m an expert at buying supplies without my (ex) house mates knowing about it. My car’s boot is huge to hide things till later.

In the meantime 2020 came and the Corona-virus threw us a curve ball … It was also the year I turned 50! What now, what next? Is there still time to meet my soul mate? Do we all have a soul mate somewhere in this world? Will I be able to fulfil my dreams to spend the zillion years of the rest of my life on the West Coast of South Africa and live passionately while chatting, writing, reading and walking hand in hand along the beach with my prince? Only time will tell!
