International day of whatever

Somewhere in the world some special day is celebrated and it seems that if there wasn’t something to celebrate someone will find something to celebrate … even if it is National Slap my Buddy Day!

Today, 21 September (you can follow this link to see all), there are 9 different celebrations going on worldwide. The four that I can relate to is (1) International Day of Peace, (2) National IT Professionals Day, (3) Miniature Golf Day and National Chai Day.

The one that I like most is National Chai Day. In many Asian countries, the word ‘chai’ means tea, but the actual chai drink does not contain tea from onset. It is actually a ‘mixed spiced tea’ which contains some of the following: black pepper, ginger, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon. The health benefits are great as black pepper and ginger aids in digestion, cloves help to relieve abdominal pain, cardamom elevates one’s mood and cinnamon promotes healthy lungs and heart.

Chai tea is a healthier alternative to coffee and a great source of antioxidants. It also assists with weight loss by increasing your metabolism and the breakdown of fat.
