The many faces of this woman

Yes, I say the many faces of THIS woman, but indeed this is possible for each and every woman out there. The photo collage is just a few of the photos of the last five years … there are many many more! 😀

Men can not really change their look as easily as women can … they are mostly limited to style and color, but women have a wide variety to play with: hair color, hair style, make up, no make up, and even more varied styles of clothes to play with.

Each time you decide to use make up or not, makes a difference to how you look to others. Every time you change your hair style or color or both, you look different to others.

Yesterday I went to the bank with my son and told him to ask for a specific consultant who assisted me before. At some stage when I was finished with my banking needs, I joined him at her cubicle. Forms are filled in, and when she got to his next of kin that was already on his profile, she said: But I know this name. I told her that was me. She was dumbstruck for a while, and then said: I don’t want to be out of place here, but I remember a much older lady sitting in front of me with that name!! Shocking!! Mental note: don’t do that color again!! Listen to your honest friends too: Hannelie did tell me she didn’t like that color on me. 🙂

I then recalled, my hair was a bit shorter than now, but totally a different color (much lighter, closer to strawberry blonde). I said so, and she looks me firmly in the eye and said: Don’t do that color again, please. It doesn’t compliment you! And my son … he sat there with an “I told you so” look on his face.

The top left hand corner is me on a no make up day – which by the way is pretty much every day of my life. My favorite photos are the ones clearly showing I had happy moments and believe me: those were true happy moments and most of those times I was in the same company.

I still can not figure out whether short, medium or longer hair suits me best, but my favorites are the two shorter styles – bottom right hand corner with the bob and the other short style in the row above. My problem is: my hair grows so fast that I need to see a hairdresser at least every three to four weeks to keep it tidy.

Anyway, for the moment I am growing my hair long as this is what I want for my trip to Israel, France, Spain and UK – easily manageable hair as walking will be what I will do most, and longer hair can be tied up and controlled. 😀

The above bank scenario wasn’t the only one where that happened. A while ago I attended a business meeting in Stellenbosch. I had to collect something from someone and went to the table to collect. When I introduced myself, the woman looked at me awkwardly and said: No, you look different on your WhatsApp profile!! I forgot to change my photo as I have changed my hair color just a day or two before the business meeting.

So, now I wonder – is there really a benefit to change so often and so drastically or not? They DO say a change is as good as a holiday!
