Who gets to make the decision to decide whether I (or you) are good enough or not? Who sets the parameters to make that decision?
We are all lead by what society or the media dictates. We are even lead by singers like Olivia Rodrigo who sang Good enough for you and you can find the lyrics on this link.
And maybe I’m just not as interesting
As the girls you had before
But God, you couldn’t have cared less
About someone who loved you more
I’d say you broke my heart
But you broke much more than that
Now I don’t want your sympathy
I just want myself back
You meet someone you like and connect with, but you decide that you are not good enough? You think you’re not pretty enough or not thin, sexy enough? Maybe you think you’re not clever or spontaneous enough? Again: Not good enough? Who are you to make that decision for someone else to decide that you are not good enough for him or her? What makes him or her superior to you, for you to feel you are not good enough?
But also, who are we to think we are inadequate? We may not be the prettiest or skinniest, but we may be compassionate and caring. We might just be what the other person needs.
God has created each of us unique creatures. He made each of us to be someone’s perfect partner or soul mate. Some people are lucky enough to find their soul mate early in their life, while others only find their soul mate late in their lives … and some never do.
My hope for every person out there is that it may never be too late for you to find your soul mate. If you are older and you have never met your soul mate yet, may you still have enough time to enjoy a perfect relationship as God has intended for us all to have.
May your possible happiness never be dependent on whether someone else thinks you are enough or not. May your soul mate be who God has intended it to be: perfect for each other.
