Yesterday I shared a scribble Interact with people, not devices written by an unknown author and today I want to challenge you to UNPLUG, AND BE PRESENT with your friends and family. Give undivided attention and make the time count!

One of the greatest things when I visit my friends in Aurora is the fact that it really feels if time stands still. You don’t feel the need to check your phone all the time. One day my phone was lying in my room from early in the morning till late afternoon. I didn’t even log into social media. Do you know how free one feels when doing just that? Have you ever felt that freedom?
Here are some really great ideas of inviting everyone to be present and ignore their phones for the while that you all spend together. One should, however, keep in mind that if you visit somewhere and your children are not with you, that you have a rule around children phoning parents. Children’s safety always comes first.
Another good thing will be to have a FINE SYSTEM in place. Should someone answer their phone while commited to time out, they should pay a fine. People need to find out what freedom feels like – the freedom of not being dominated by your cell phone.
What happens if your work depends on you having your cell phone closer than a heart beat? YOU NEED TO LEARN that you are allowed to have free time. You are not employed 24 hours a day, neither do you run your business 24 hours a day. You should know when to actually shut down for the day, because your body and mind needs enough rest to run on full capacity.
Your cell phone has already replaced your camera, your calendar, your alarm clock …
Don’t allow it to replace your friends, family and your much needed time to rest and recharge for the next day or week. ARE YOU WILLING TO TAKE THE CHALLENGE TO BE PRESENT?
