Ps 46:10 – “Be still and know that I am God.”

A powerful word to comfort us, but it is also a wake-up call.  The context that this verse was written in was in a time of trouble.  It means that we should be still, focus on God and listen to what He wants to say during our time of trouble. We should stop fearing the things we have no control over and acknowledge who our God is – be in awe!! Sometimes the noise of the trouble is so loud, that we cannot hear anything. Therefore, it is important to find yourself a place where you can be alone and not disturbed … so that you can focus on what God wants to say to you.

Sometimes we are also very stubborn and after we heard our Father, we still ask:  “Really, Lord, are you talking to me right now?  Is this message meant for me? No, Lord, you can’t be serious! Are you sure this message isn’t for someone else?”

Currently I am going through a really tough and trying time. I had this feeling that God is not hearing me, not listening, not caring.  This morning early I received a WhatsApp message from an old friend of my late parents. “I am nothing, but it feels to me if you are going through a difficult time. I know that you are a fighter. My prayers are with you. I wish you blessings.”

I was in total awe, as this was so unexpected and needed. I replied to him with what the situation is at the moment, and what I am trying to do about it.  And just after that reply I realized I did not answer him in full, which I then did: “No one in this life is a nothing; God has purpose for us all. Just look at how He used you today, to remind me that He has me in His thoughts.”  I don’t know what was going on in his mind, maybe he needed to hear that too. God used both of us today … I just knew my message wasn’t complete. There was more.

This situation I am going through at the moment – I know that God might say no, but then I also know that then He will have something better for me when the time is right.

At almost 48 I still have lots of dreams and wishes, but I know that my Father will provide as He sees fit. In the meantime, I will be still and know that He is God. I will trust that whatever crosses my path will be because it is part of His unique plan for my life.

Amen!
